Bollywood singer Neha Kakkar has been receiving flak on social media for remaking dandiya queen Falguni Pathak's iconic number 'Maine Payal Hai Chhankai' into 'O Sajna' featuring Dhanashree Verma and Priyank Sharma.
Now, in an interview with Mid-Day, Dhanashree said that everyone has grown up listening to the song they were excited to learn that it was being remade. She said, "The way our composers Tanishk (Bagchi) Neha, and Jaani, all these guys together, they just made it even better. They have amply justified what they had to."
Recently, Falguni expressed disappointment over Neha's song and said that she wishes to take legal action against the Bollywood singer.
The 53-year-old singer told PinkVilla that she is happy to see her fans' love for the original song, which was originally released in 1999.
"I feel overwhelmed and touched on receiving so much love from all over for the song, so I had to share their feelings," Falguni said.
Falguni also shared that she wasn't approached by the makers of 'O Sajna', Kakkar's version of the song. According to Pinkvilla, Falguni re-shared a story by her fan that asked her to sue Kakkar.
Asked if she is planning to take the legal route, Falguni said: "I wish I could but the rights are not with me."
The original song was released in 1999 and it featured actors Vivan Bhatena and Nikhila Palat. The song was played out as a puppet show in a college fest. The song was a massive hit.
After facing backlash, Neha shared notes in self-appreciation on Instagram. She talked about being self-made and all that she did to attain success as a singer.
Without taking anyone's name, Neha wrote, "If talking in such a manner, saying such bad things about me, abusing me...makes them feel good and if they think it will ruin my day. Then I'm sorry to inform them that I'm too blessed to have bad days. This God's child is always happy because God himself/herself is keeping me happy."
Amid the war of words, Falguni was seen sharing the stage with Neha on 'Indian Idol 13'. It is unclear if the episode was filmed before or after the song was released.
