Damoh (Madhya Pradesh): Determined, 57-year-old Parmalal Kori fought a legal battle for 17 long years to reclaim his position as a government school teacher in Madhya Pradesh's Damoh. He won the arduous fight. The high court issued his appointment letter, however he could not personally go to collect. His son reached the court, carrying his father's death certificate in hand.

Tragically, Kori lost his life battle barely three days before he won the battle he fought throughout his life!

Parmalal Kori, from Madiyado village in Damoh district, Madhya Pradesh, had been struggling since the age of 40 to get justice. His dream was to become a teacher, uplift his family.

But on April 12, just days before the appointment process was to begin, Parmalal died of a heart attack.

According to information, in 1988, Parmalal had worked as an instructor at a school in Shivpur. After three years, the school shut down.

While some instructors were later absorbed into the education department and given jobs as "gurujis," Parmalal was left out. He did not give up.

In 2008, he passed the Guruji Eligibility Test and approached the Jabalpur High Court for justice, demanding a rightful place in the education system.

The court ruled in his favor, and on April 15, the District Education Center in Damoh sent him a letter asking him to bring his documents for verification so he could be appointed as a Grade 3 contract teacher.

Instead of Parmalal, his son Shubham arrived at the office, carrying his father’s documents—and his death certificate. The moment brought tears to everyone present.

Parmalal had hoped that the job would lift his family out of poverty and bring a better future.

He never got to work even a single day in the job he had waited for all his life.
