Balaghat (Madhya Pradesh): Leader of Opposition (LoP ) Umang Singhar on Wednesday visited Duglai village in Balaghat after a molestation incident involving tribal minor girls. Calling it a "shameful stigma," he criticized the BJP government’s silence and inaction the reason of unsafe situations for women in state.

LoP Singhar announced financial aid for victims’ families and highlighted the village's lack of electricity and education.

He demanded a fast-track investigation, condemned rising crimes against women and tribal’s, and accused the government of neglect and corruption.

Apart from this the police presented all the seven rapists to the court after their three days of police remand on Tuesday.

All the seven youths violated four girls, including three minors on the night of April 23 when they were returning home after attending a wedding ceremony.

The youth continued to rape the girls till 5am. When the incident came to light on April 24, the villagers held two Panchayats.

At the Panchayat, some villagers even offered money to the girls’ family to settle the issue. One of the girls insisted on going to the police station.

Superintendent of police Nagendra Singh said his purpose would be to file an application in the court for day-to-day hearing of the case. Because the case is highly sensitive, he is monitoring it, Singh said. The police are waiting for the FSL report, he said.

The police will act against anyone trying to threaten the girls’ family or give them money to settle the case, Singh said.
