BHOPAL : A 27-year-old physiotherapist, who got married in January last year, filed a complaint against her NRI husband and in-laws accusing them of perpetrating harassment for demanding a Ferrari car as dowry. However, her in-laws claimed that she was mounting pressure on her husband to leave his family and live in a separate home.
In-charge, Mahila Thana, Sandhya Mishra said, “Complainant Dr Sadaf Raheem Ali, 27, resident of Tulsi Nagar married Syed Mehboob Ali, 29, resident of Millennium Mews, Haj House Road, Lalghati, on January 30, 2015. Her father is a retired government employee. Her husband is working in a private firm in Dubai.”
As per the complainant, immediately after the marriage her husband, mother-in-law Shahnaz and father-in-law Irfan Ali started harassing her, demanded a Ferrari car as dowry. Mehboob Ali kept on telling her that had he married some other girl he would have definitely got a Ferrari in Dowry. Fed up with harassment she finally filed a case.
SHO Mishra added that the case was first taken for counselling but differences between the couple could not be reconciled. She said that Mehboob’s parents claimed that Sadaf wanted her husband to move out of their house and live separately. Sadaf also filed a case of domestic violence and maintenance.
