According to information, the incident happened on February 4 around 12:30 PM when the Airport Authority of India informed the forest department. Following this, CISF and airport officials decided to investigate further, as there are fears that more jackals might be in the area.

At the time of the incident, a private plane was parked on the runway. If the jackal had appeared in front of a landing flight, it could have caused a serious accident.

About Dumna Airport

Dumna Airport, Madhya Pradesh’s second-largest airport, was recently expanded at a cost of ₹450 crore. It covers 960 acres and is secured by private security agencies and CISF personnel.

This is not the first time an animal has entered the airport. On December 14, 2015, a SpiceJet Bombardier Q-400 aircraft carrying 49 passengers from Mumbai to Jabalpur collided with a wild boar while landing. The passengers were safe, but the aircraft was damaged.

In 2017, a DGCA investigation found several security lapses, including broken boundary walls that allowed animals to enter. The airport was later allowed to operate again under strict conditions.
