Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A recent video showing a 'golden' mansion of a contractor in Indore is now drawing sharp criticism from netizens. The clip featured the luxurious bungalow, claiming the fixtures, furniture, and decor were done with 24-carat gold.

Owner of the house, Anoop Agrawal, issued a notice to content creator Priyam Saraswat, alleging the video was not properly edited, further leading to misrepresentation.

Shortly after the notice, Saraswat took down the video.

The video was a house tour of the luxurious home owned by Anoop Agarwal, Indore’s government contractor who handles projects of roads and bridges.

Netizens questioned how a government contractor could afford such a lavish lifestyle. Some also accused Agarwal of misusing public funds meant for infrastructure work.

Criticism straight from Kerala Congress

Due to the rising criticism, Saraswat deleted the original video. However, it resurfaced after being shared by the official X handle of the Kerala Congress party. The party strongly questioned the silence of the public and authorities. He further suggested that such displays of wealth deserved investigation.

In the tweet, the party wrote, “Why are our highways collapsing, bridges falling into rivers? Find the answers here. The government contractor from Indore has built a house where even taps and switches are made of gold. He has ED-proved himself by building a Gau Shala in the house. People who wanted ED to raid a pani puri seller for earning ₹40 lakhs won’t ask for the ED to visit this man.”

What the video was about?

The video tour, which has received over 1 crore views, showed golden walls, ceilings, furniture, chandeliers, and even gold-plated electrical switches and taps. Saraswat, known for sharing videos of unique and extravagant homes across India, entered the house with the owner's permission. He was also shown a collection of rare and luxury cars, including a 1936 vintage Mercedes, which Agarwal proudly called the “real gold.”

As the debate continues, many are demanding accountability and transparency from wealthy individuals in positions of power, especially those connected to public projects. The golden mansion may be dazzling, but the questions it raises are far more serious.
