Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Chairman of the Waqf Board Sanwar Patel has said after the amendments to the Waqf Board, the income from its properties across the country may be Rs 12,000 crore. Patel made the statement at a press conference on Thursday.

There are 15,008 Waqf properties in the state and that in 2020, Patta law was implemented, he said. If Patta is considered as law, there should be an income of Rs 100 crore from the Waqf properties every year, whereas the annual income from these properties is only Rs 2 crore, he said.

It is happening because of the Congress leaders’ seizure of Waqf properties and discrepancies in the law, he said. Patel said amendments to the Waqf law would increase the income which would be spent on the education, health and employment of the Muslim children and youths.

He said whenever some steps were taken to improve the living standard of the Muslims, the Congress had opposed it, and it happened on many occasions. Everyone should welcome the amendments to the Bill, he said.
