Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav strongly condemned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi following his controversial remarks made in Bhopal, referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Reacting strongly, CM Yadav said, “This is exactly why Rahul Gandhi is called 'Pappu'. When will he finally mature? His behaviour and words not only damage his own reputation but also go against the values and decorum expected from a Leader of the Opposition.”

Notably, Gandhi had alleged that “one phone call from Trump made Narendra Ji to surrender,” in the context of the India-Pakistan ceasefire - a comment that has drawn widespread backlash from the BJP.

Yadav further criticized Gandhi’s tone and choice of words, calling them “frivolous” and “disrespectful.”

“It is unfortunate that the Leader of Opposition speaks without maintaining the dignity of the position. Such language tarnishes the democratic culture of our country. I condemn his statements in the strongest terms,” Yadav added.

'Gandhi must apologise'

The Chief Minister also highlighted that even Congress MPs abroad have acknowledged the action taken by the Indian Army under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, particularly in the context of India-Pakistan relations.

“Rahul Gandhi is speaking like an immature person. Congress will have to pay a political price for such irresponsible remarks,” he warned.

Yadav called on Gandhi to publicly apologise, saying, “The Leader of Opposition holds a prestigious constitutional position. Using such derogatory language for the Prime Minister deeply disappoints me, and I am certain the people of Madhya Pradesh and the country feel the same.”

The row erupted after Rahul Gandhi’s statement in Bhopal, where he alleged that the India-Pakistan ceasefire was influenced by a phone call from former US President Donald Trump, implying that Prime Minister Modi had capitulated under pressure. The BJP has since gone on the offensive, terming the remark as an insult to India’s armed forces and its democratic leadership.
