BHOPAL : The cyber police have arrested two persons for defrauding a Merchant Navy commander to the tune of Rs 8 lakh in the name of providing him a job in a Singapore-based shipping company.
The SHO of cyber police station Mahendra Singh Thakur informed that the victim Aseem Khare is a Merchant Navy commander. The victim had uploaded his resume on a website. The racketeers called him on his cell number and assured that he will get a job in the shipping company based in Singapore. They asked the victim to deposit Rs 8 lakh in different account.
The racketeers also arranged an ‘interview’ and again demanded money for ‘offer letter’. After some time their mobile numbers were found switch off.

A suspicious Aseem lodged a complaint with the cyber police. The police traced the mobile number and found that the SIM card was bought by Rahul Pathak, a resident of MPEB colony of Sagar,
The police arrested Rahul. On interrogation, he disclosed that he had given the SIM card to Sourabh Sthapak resident of Shahjehanabad in the city. He was also picked up.
Rahul is a BCA and Sourabh Sthapak is an advocate and also runs an NGO
In the interrogation Sourabh informed police that they were running an office in Old Subhash Nagar with their other friends. They were in contact with racketeers in Delhi. They lured job seekers, promising them jobs. Earlier in the year 2012, the duo had worked as counsellor to help the students get admissions in colleges.
