Two Die In Parvati River After Woman Jumps In To Save Son, Local Boy In MP's Guna

Guna (Madhya Pradesh): A woman and a child died after being swept away by the strong current of the Parvati River in Guna on Tuesday.

The mother, Sapna Meena, jumped into the river to save her son, Atul Meena and another local boy Ankir Kevat who were struggling in the strong current.

The incident took place in Rampura village, Chachoda area of Guna.

The incident occurred on Tuesday when the river was swollen due to recent rains.

According to information, the mother, Sapna Meena, had gone to the riverbank to wash clothes, while her son Atul Meena and another local boy, Ankit Kevat, were bathing in the river.

Suddenly, both children got caught in the strong current. Seeing them in danger, Sapna jumped into the river to save them.

Villagers managed to rescue Atul, but the swift flow of water carried away Sapna and Ankit.

Search teams from SDERF recovered Sapna’s body about 70 meters from the site, while Ankit’s body was found around 50 meters away around 3:30 pm.

According to villagers, Sapna lost her life while trying to save Ankit. Chachoda SDM Ravi Malviya confirmed that the river’s fast current made rescue efforts difficult.

The incident highlights the dangers of the Parvati River, which is frequently used by locals for washing clothes and bathing, especially after heavy rains.
