Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Tikamgarh police on Monday arrested the third accused in connection with murder of Kitty Kumarmangalam who was found dead at her residence in Basant Vihar in New Delhi on July 6.
Kitty Kumarmangalam, 67, was a senior advocate and wife of former union minister PR Kumarmangalam.
The accused was arrested from village Baldevpura under Jatara police station of the district. The Tikamgarh police had received inputs from Delhi police that one of the accused of infamous robbery and murder case belonged to Tikamgarh district and was hiding in his native place.
Tikamgarh Superintendent of Police Prashant Khare said the accused identified as Suraj was arrested from his native village and was handed over to Delhi police. “Jewellery worth nearly Rs 34 lakh, robbed by the accused, has also been recovered and handed over to Delhi police,” Khare told journalists.
On July 6, three persons including Suraj, who were employed at the house of deceased, barged in and overpowered her domestic help. They later smothered Kitty Kumarmangalam with a pillow. The accused then escaped with jewellery and cash. The domestic help, who somehow managed to untie, raised an alarm and informed police.
The police had arrested two accused identified as Raju and Rakesh from Delhi, while Suraj was on the run.
