Datia (Madhya Pradesh): A teenage boy was killed, and two others were seriously injured after an unexploded bomb went off at an army firing range in Madhya Pradesh's Datia district. The incident occurred on Friday in Jaitpur village in the district. The victims were collecting scrap when the blast occurred.
Locals informed the police, and the injured were rushed to a nearby hospital before being referred to Jhansi Medical College. The police have launched an investigation into the incident. Authorities have urged locals to stay away from the restricted area.
According to information, the deceased, identified as Gangaram, son of Dalu Adivasi, along with his friends had entered the Heerapur Army Firing Range to collect scrap. They found an old explosive shell and tried to open it. The shell exploded, killing Gangaram on the spot. Ramu and Manoj, the victim's friends, sustained severe injuries.
The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital before being referred to Jhansi Medical College after locals informed the police. Officials confirmed that the area is used for army training, and unexploded shells are often left behind. On Friday morning, some boys entered the range and tampered with one of the shells, causing it to explode.
