Smugglers Caught Carrying 8 Kg Weed In Paan Masala Packets In MP's Gwalior

Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): Two youths were caught smuggling atleast 8kg weed in several small packets of Paan Masala in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior.

The accused had left in a Swift car on Monday night to supply cannabis concealed inside packets of paan masala, however were apprehended by the police.

As much as 8.1 kg cannabis, three mobiles and a Swift car have been seized and a case has been registered against the two accused under the NDPS Act. They are currently being interrogated.

Gwalior region has seen a sudden surge in cannabis smuggling and now smugglers are adopting new tricks. This time they used paan masala packets to smuggle the weed in an attempt to fool the cops.

Additional SP Niranjan Sharma said that a point was set up by the Siroli police station of Gwalior to check suspicious vehicles at Futi Colony. During checking, the police team found two persons sitting inside the Swift car.

On asking their names and addresses, the driver identified himself as a resident of Dabra and the other as a resident of Bhitarwar district Gwalior. The police team found a cloth bag with Vimal Pan Masala written on it in the car.

When bag was opened and checked, four packets of narcotic substance cannabis were found in it, weighing 8 kg 100 grams and the price of which is said to be more than ₹80,000.

Three mobile phones were also recovered from the two accused and goods worth more than ₹9 lakh were seized by the police. During police interrogation, the accused told that they used to smuggle cannabis under the guise of supplying Pan Masala. The police is currently interrogating the arrested accused.
