Recognition to 138 colleges for 3-ys GNM nursing course, 156 for 4-yr BSc nursing course.

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Madhya Pradesh Nurses Registration Council (MPNRC) has released a list of recognized General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) Nursing colleges and BSc. Nursing colleges for the 2024-2025 Session. The list of recognized colleges has been released after the CBI and a committee of the High Court cleared their names.

As per the list, 138 colleges offer GNM courses and 156 institutes run BSc nursing courses. As far as seats are concerned, 6816 are for GNM nursing  and 7864 are for BSc Nursing. GNM is a 3 years course while BSc is a 4 years course.

The High Court had ordered a CBI probe into the credentials of all the nursing colleges in the state to ascertain if they had requisite facilities to operate the nursing courses.

The CBI gave a clean chit to 169 nursing colleges, pointing out deficiencies in 74 saying that they could be rectified, But the CBI found 65 nursing colleges unfit to operate.

Later, the court constituted a three-member committee headed by a retired judge of the High Court, Justice Rajendra Kumar Shrivastava to examine whether the 74 nursing colleges, which the CBI found to have deficiencies that could be cured, actually do so within the given time frame and decide on adjusting students of these colleges to other colleges in the meantime.
