Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has said after the completion of the first phase of the new MLA’s rest house, its second phase will also be built.

Yadav made the statement at the foundation-laying ceremony of the MLA rest house on Monday. The MLA rest house, being built at a cost of ₹160 crore on 14 acres, will consist of 102 flats.

The target for completing the building is 18 months. A gym, a fire alarm system, a sewage treatment plant, a hospital, and a shopping complex will also be constructed on the building premises.

A sum of ₹500,000 has been sanctioned for each legislator to modernise their offices, Yadav said. About Bhopal getting the second position in the cleanliness survey, Yadav has said the city’s target for the next year is to get the first position. If there is any loophole, it will be plugged, he said.

Indian culture and attire are seen with respect in Spain, Yadav said, adding that India is held in high esteem across the world because of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

According to Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar, a legislator is the people’s representative. So, the legislators should get facilities according to the change of time, Tomar said, adding that the present MLA rest house was built in 1958.

As the construction has become too old, it is being demolished to construct a new building, which will be provided with modern facilities, Tomar said. As the legislators were demanding the construction of a new building, the government launched the project.

During the tenure of the previous speakers, the preparations began for the project, Tomar said. In the coming days, the House will be e-assembly, he said.

Urban Development Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya spoke about his memories associated with the present MLA rest house. Efforts are being made to make technical resources available to the legislators, Vijayvargiya said.

PWD Minister Rakesh Singh and many other ministers were present at the event.
