BHOPAL: The soft attitude of the BJP state government towards Congress MP Sandeep Dixit has delayed the preparation of Human Development Report of the state. An NGO named ‘ Sanket’, run by Dixit, was assigned the work of preparing Human Development Report with a deadline of 2011. It was also decided that the government would pay Rs 25 lakh to the NGO for this work.
The NGO of Dixit has so far not prepared the report and there is no possibility of it being prepared before Lok Sabha elections. The previous Human Development Report of the state was issued in 2009 and since then no report has been prepared.
According to sources, Dixit by using his influence has got the subject of the report changed by the state government to agriculture and livelihood. It is Dixit’s influence that neither the officers could dare to cancel the work assigned to his NGO nor they could take any decision in this regard.
Sources also said that the NGO, run by Dixit is being consistently assigned the work of preparing Human Development Report of the state. Even when BJP government came to power, no advertisement for preparing the report was issued and the then
chief secretary directly assigned the work to Dixit’s NGO. Ashish Upadhyaya, commissioner, institutional finance has said that the report was supposed to be prepared by 2011. Upadhyaya said the NGO ‘ Sanket’ is making the report and its deadline has been extended. He said the report is expected to be prepared this year.
