Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): BJP MLA Sanjay Pathak and his family are in trouble in Sahara land case after the EOW registered a case against Sahara’s chief manager Shimanto Roy who is the son of Subroto Roy, the founder of the group.
In the month of January this year, the Economic Offences Wing has registered preliminary enquiry on the complaints received by Manu Dixit, Deependra Singh Thakur and Himanshu Paviya, related to the sale of land and purchase irregularities.
The BJP MLA’s family had purchased the land through their company, situated in Bhopal, Jabalpur and in Katni which is estimated to be 310 acres. DG Upendra Jain informed that the EOW has begun investigation after registering the PE and found huge financial irregularities.
He added that 508 acres of land was sold at ₹123.72 crore and according to the Court’s instruction the amount was scheduled to be deposited in SEBI-Sahara-Refund Account. But in place of depositing the amount, Sahara CCM Roy, DGM-MMW JB Roy and deputy managing worker OP Shrivastava shifted the amount into different accounts after selling the land. Out of Rs 123.72 crore, the company officials did not deposit the amount of Rs 72.82 crore into the account.
Land sold at lower amount compared to market rates
The sellers not only siphoned the amount of ₹72.82 crore, but they had also sold the lands at very low rates violating norms of the Court. It is claimed that the total cost of the 508-acre land is around ₹1000 crore.
Land in Bhopal: In 2014, the market rate of the 110-acre land was ₹125 crore, but it was sold for ₹47.73 crore.
Land in Sagar: The 99.76-acre land was sold for just 14.79 crore.
Land in Jabalpur: 99.44-acre land was sold for ₹20.60 crore and 99.44-acre land in Katni was sold for ₹22 crore.
Land in Gwalior: 99.76-acre of land was sold for just ₹18.60 crore.
