Rifle stolen from Minister’s car recovered amidst high drama

BHOPAL : A rifle which was stolen from Revenue and Rehabilitation Minister Rampal Singh’s car outside his bungalow in Shivaji Nagar area under Habibganj Police station, was recovered from the accused who was detained on Friday.

The car was parked outside the bungalow when the accused, Aziz Khan, who used to visit frequent the house, broke its windowpanes, stole the rifle and escaped last night.

However, Aziz, who was drunk when he committed the crime, left behind his slippers enabling police to ascertain his identity. Valmiki Singh Chauhan, one of the security men, informed the crime branch about mobile number of Azim Khan. The crime branch traced Azim Khan at Aishbagh. The accused who was in inebriated condition threatened police that he would jump from top of the building. But some cops kept him busy in conversation while another team caught hold of him.

As per the Habibganj police, accused has been arrested and rifle has been recovered from him.

ASP (Crime Branch) Shailendra Singh Chauhan said, “When our team reached to detain him, he closed the door and went upstairs at the top of his four-storey building and threatened us that he would jump from building. We immediately called 108 Ambulance, and JCB machine, hydraulic platform. Even mattress and net was arranged. Some policemen kept him busy in conversation and then we swooped down him. He was inebriated condition. We handed over him to Habibganj police.”
