Narmadapuram (Madhya Pradesh): Chief executive officer of the district Panchayat, Sojan Singh Rawat, has inspected the restoration work of Palakmati River in Sohagpur.

He visited the origin of the river and various village panchayats on Sunday.

The administration is restoring the river under the Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan-2025-26. For this reason, the district Panchayat started the work from the origin of the river.

The Palakmati River originates from the Bineka and Jamanidev areas, nearly three kilometres south of the Chherka village of the Satpura Tiger Reserve.

Rawat told the officials of the forest department to prepare a plan for the work done by them in the 12km area of the STR forest through which the river rolls.

Rawat said to the forest officers that water bodies in the reserved forest area would remain full to their capacity throughout the year. It would be helpful to the restoration of the Palamati River.

He also visited Sehra, Takapar, Chhedka, Bichhua and other places to inspect the progress of the water bodies being constructed under the MNREGA Yojna.

He also inspected the under-construction Naveen Panchayat building and got angry about the lack of quality in materials used in the building.
