BHOPAL : State government’s proposal to revert promotion of four university registrars has got stuck in MP Public Service Commission. Even after two months, MPPSC has not responded to the letter of department of higher education for holding review meeting of DPC for four registrars, who were promoted ignoring norms.

“We are waiting for date from MPPSC for review meeting of DPC in which decision will be taken for demoting four registrars,” said an official.

Two years ago, university registrars were promoted by the department even after the concerned deputy secretary, dealing with the university related matter in DHE, clearly mentioned that posts were not available for promoting deputy registrars.

The then minister for higher education Laxmikant Sharma, who is in jail at present in Vyapam scam, turned down the official’s comment and asked the officials to hold DPC.

Total 11 posts of registrars were sanctioned by the department but after promotion, the number of registrars became 15. Finance department took objection to it and asked DHE to revert four registrars.

Four among promoted registrars Subhash Arya, Ashok Arya, RK Chauhan, Baliram Bharti, Anand Kambale, LS Solanki, could be demoted.

A committee headed by DAVV vice-chancellor Dr DP Singh, a MPPSC member, principal secretary, higher education and a senior officer belonging to SC and ST will take part in the review meeting of the DPC.

However, some officials have mounted pressure for not holding the review DPC as there would be vacancies of registrars in DHE after retirement of Parikshit Singh and Kamlakar Singh, suspended registrar and posted in Chitrakoot University this year. Wrongly promoted registrars could be adjusted in case of the vacancies, they say.
