Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Around 200 private school operators staged a protest against new recognition rules at Rajya Shiksha Kendra (RSK) on Friday. The demonstrators attempted to march toward the Chief Minister's residence but were stopped by police.
The protesters were demanding abolition of lease and fixed deposit requirements as provisioned in the new rules. Shailesh Tiwari, president of the Private School Association told Free Press that the school operators have criticised the government for complicating the recognition processes which particularly have affected school running in rural areas.
They also demanded the withdrawal of the increased FD amount, citing financial strain. Highlighting the delays in reimbursement under the Right to Education (RTE) Act, Tiwari said that their payments have been held up for up to two years. Many schools have not received the amount from 2016-2022 due to technical issues, he added.
The association has warned of intensifying their stir if their demands were not met by January 15. We will approach the High Court and even the Supreme Court if our demands are not addressed, said Tiwari. A delegation of protesters submitted a memorandum to senior RSK officials.
