Penalised pvt medical colleges file appeal

BHOPAL : Six private medical colleges, which were fined Rs 13.10 crore by Admission And Fee Regulatory Committee (AFRC), for ‘unlawful’ admissions against state quota seats in 2013-14, have filed an appeal.

AFRC had imposed Rs 40 lakh fine on Aurobindo Institute of Medical Science, Indore, Rs 2.25 crore on Chirayu Medical College and Research Centre, Bhopal, Rs 5.50 crore on Index Medical College & Research Centre, Indore, Rs 2.45 crore on LN Medical College Hospital & Research Centre, Bhopal, Rs 2.15 crore on People’s College of Medical Science, Bhopal and Rs 35 lakh on RD Gardi Medical College, Ujjain on July 26 after seeking report from medical education department. The committee had found 198 seats of state quota, filled ignoring the norms. The colleges can file appeal within 30 days of the committee’s decision.
