Pandey was blackmailing Vyapam accused, had links with STF

BHOPAL :  The investigations into the arrest of Prashant Pandey and Sonu Kumar with confidential documents and call records may reveal shocking facts.

According to sources, Pandey, who is an engineer by profession, was trying to blackmail some people on the basis of call records of stuck in Vyapam scam. Pandey has certain documents related to Vyapam scam which may bring trouble for people linked to the government. Police are also investigating into call records found with Pandey.

The documents seized also show call records of cases other than Vyapam scam.

Sources said Pandey was doing business of getting call records disclosed for long time and some employees of various telecom companies were also with Pandey.

Sources said they used to take money from people to get call records disclosed and also get call detail records in connivance with employees of telecom companies.

 The STF was making use of Pandey and Sonu for long time in probing of Vyapam scam but they also had certain documents, which may arise problems for some. According to sources, Pandey was also doing the work of getting CDRs disclosed in Indore city for long time and he used to blackmail people. STF is scrutinizing the documents found with Pandey.

The police remand  of Pandey would end on Friday. Police are under pressure as Pandey may make some disclosure which could bring new development to the fore in Vyapam scam.

Introduced himself as computer expert

MP Nagar Police station in a press release said that Prashant Pandey and Sonu Kumar were arrested from Hotel Raunak Plaza on the intervening night of August 5 and 6. Initially, Prashant Pandey introduced himself to be a computer expert while Sonu claimed to be assistant nodal officer with Tata Docomo.  Prashant Pandey during interrogation revealed that he knows people in Mobile companies and sells call details records (CDRs) by taking money from people. Police have seized one laptop and 6 mobile phones from their possession.
