Land safe
The change of alignment of a road construction project has delighted a retired IAS officer holding an important position. In the old alignment, the Sahib’s land was within the periphery of the land acquired for the venture. When he protested against it, many people came to his support. All of them began to protest against the project at different levels. They said a large number of people had purchased land. The protest intensified, forcing the government to think about abandoning the plan. The government resolved to carry on the project by changing the alignment. The Sahib’s land has gone out of the periphery of the project after the change in the alignment. The lands belonging to other people are also outside the route. But the government thinks if the lands of any other officers come within the limits of the project, they will also protest.
On pilgrimage
A Additional Chief Secretary has set out on a pilgrimage for a plum posting. He pulled out all the stops to get an important position, but his efforts failed. The Sahib was so fed up that he set out on a pilgrimage. He thinks when he returns, he will get a position of his choice. The Sahib has been in trouble since the new government took over in the state. The government shifted the officer from an important place and sent him to another department where he is not on good terms with his counterparts. The Sahib is fed up with one of the departments functioning under him. He wants to leave the place as early as possible. There are reports that the Sahib made all efforts to please the higher-ups in the government and the administration for his posting. He also worked a lot in the departments under his control to quell the government’s anger against him. Yet, his efforts came to nothing. The Sahib has set out on pilgrimage. He has lost faith in humans and taken refuge in God.
Angry bosses
The higher-ups in the government are annoyed with a principal secretary (PS) posted in an important department. The then-powerful woman officer transferred the PS to the department after the government formation. When she was out of power, people thought the government would shift the PS from the department. The PS was lucky that the new government started liking him. But now, a powerful officer in the government is averse to him. The top bosses have poured out their annoyance after an incident. The PS was playing politics over the list of transfers. He was giving opinions about the officers according to the choice of the head of state. Similarly, he was giving different views in the presence of the head of administration. Both understood the PS’s style of working. The people in the corridors of power say the PS was doing it for a long time to stick to his chair. Now that his secrets are out, he is trying to defend himself.
All for posting
A secretary-rank officer is trying for a plump posting. He expected the government to post him in an important department. The officer is seeking the help of an important person for it. A long time has passed since he was not transferred. The Sahib is working in an important department, but he is not enjoying his work there. In the present department, he has to go to the court frequently. And he is tired of it. There are many petitions associated with the department in the court. The Sahib is cheesed off handling the court cases. The Sahib wants to join an important department, and he has set his eye on a division. The officer previously tried to go to this division, but he did not succeed. He had set his eyes on another post, but an officer was unexpectedly posted there. The Sahib is again making efforts for pump posting. He is an expert in pleasing the bosses, but his strategy is not working now.
Bid for rehabilitation
Three ‘promotee’ IAS officers are trying for rehabilitation. Each is making efforts at his level. A woman IAS officer, deputed to the centre, is about to retire. Madam is keen on getting some work in the state government after retirement. Her husband is holding an important position, but he maintains a low profile. His wife, too, has never created any controversy. It seems she will get some work after retirement. Likewise, another about-to-retire officer is trying for rehabilitation, but he is not high-profile. He is an expert in revenue work. He is also making efforts for rehabilitation. In the same way, an officer who has recently retired wants to get adjusted in any department. He, too, met senior officers and put up his plea for rehabilitation before them.
Sahib unscathed!
An IAS officer and two IPS officers were the targets of the Income Tax Department in a case. The income-tax sleuths found the names of these officers in the diary of a man on whose residential premises they had carried out raids. The issue raised a storm in the corridors of power, but the IAS officer remained unscathed. The I-T department served notices on the IPS officers on the basis of the clues they hit upon during the raids. Although the court was tightening the screws on these officers, the higher-ups saved the IAS officer for the time being. The IAS officer has not been given notice in this matter as he is not directly involved in the case. Against this backdrop, many important people came to the IAS officer’s rescue, for neither any politician nor any officer held grudges against him. For this reason, an important person helped him a lot to get out of the mess. However, as his name figured in the case, he might get entangled in it again, as long as the issue remains alive
