Over Dozen Held With Firearms & Ammunition In Jabalpur

Jabalpur (MadhyaPradesh): In a major crackdown against illegal firearms, Jabalpur police arrested 16 persons and seized 15 country made pistols and revolvers with 19 live cartridges.

The drive was launched on the instructions of Jabalpur SP Sampat Upadhyay. Those arrested also include some local firearm dealers.

Panagar police arrested four persons Nitesh aka Nitu and Anil Barman with two pistols and two cartridges while Jhony Sen and Anil Barman were arrested for selling the firearms. Barela police arrested one Nitesh Tekam with a country made revolver and two live cartridges.

Cops at Kundam police station arrested one Sahil Sahu with a pistol and a cartridge. Shahpura police arrested one Durgesh Patel and seized a pistol and a cartridge. Hanumantal police arrested one Saifu Khan, Chirag Sonkar, Vishal Sonkar with a pistol and cartridge each. Cops at Ranjhi police station arrested Anuj Thakur and Praveen Rajak with a pistol and cartridge each while cops at Madhotal police station arrested Lakhan Chaudhary with a revolver and Shobhit Suryavanshi with a pistol and ammunition.

Police officials said that the drive against illegal firearms would continue. Moreover, the arrested persons will be questioned to learn about the source of the firearms. Police will identify the persons engaged in smuggling and selling firearms and cartridges in the district.
