Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Department of Public Instructions will implement a unique student ID system for students, following the model of ‘One Nation, One ID’. The department has announced that a special campaign will be run on December 9 and 10 across all government and private schools in the state, with over 1.25 lakh schools participating in the initiative.
The initiative aims to create the Apaar ID (Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry) for every student. Shilpa Gupta, Commissioner of Public Instruction, has issued official directives regarding the initiative, clarifying that starting from the next academic session, all student data will be stored using this Apaar ID.
The Apaar ID is a unique 12-digit identifier, similar to an Aadhaar card, which will serve as a permanent academic identity for students. This ID will include information about the student’s academic history and be applicable from primary school to higher education.
With more than 1.4 crore students enrolled across over 1.23 lakh schools in Madhya Pradesh, this initiative will cover both public and private schools. The Apaar ID will be used for tracking a student’s educational and academic progress, including transfer certificates, entrance exams, and other academic-related activities.

Additionally, parents will need to give consent for the issuance of the Apaar ID, making it an essential step in a student’s educational journey. The Apaar ID will not only store academic records but will also facilitate the transfer of credits between institutions and ensure a lifelong educational identity for each student.
