Sudden inflation in Sugar prices |

Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): Sugar prices soar by 20 to 25 rupees per kilogram over the past 20-22 days in Jabalpur. According to wholesale traders, sugar, which was around 45-46 rupees per kilogram some time ago, has now reached around 70 rupees per kilogram. This sudden increase has affected the household budgets of ordinary consumers.

Affecting expenses of ordinary families

According to traders, even traders hadn't anticipated such a steep increase. Sugar is a staple in everyday life, used in everything from tea to sweets. Consequently, the price increase is directly impacting the monthly expenses of ordinary families.

Traders urge the Government to control rising sugar prices

Traders have urged the government to take necessary steps to control rising sugar prices, especially when the demand for sweets increases during festivals like Rakshabandhan. The increased consumption of sweets during this festival of brotherhood also increases the demand for sugar. At such a time, price control is essential to ensure that ordinary people are not burdened financially during the festival.

Limited supply and rising demand

According to traders, several reasons are being cited for the rising sugar prices. Mills are stating that new production is still early, and existing stocks are limited. Furthermore, the diversion of a portion of sugarcane sugar to ethanol production has impacted the amount of sugar available in the market. Amid limited supply and rising demand, prices are rising. Traders demand that the government should monitor market conditions and take immediate steps to control sugar prices and provide relief to consumers.
