Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): In a significant directive, the principal bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court in Jabalpur has ordered that the upcoming nursing examinations must be conducted on scheduled dates — April 28 and 29 — without any further changes or postponements. The decision comes amidst an ongoing investigation into fraudulent recognition of several nursing colleges in the state.

A special bench comprising Justice Sanjay Dwivedi and Justice Achal Kumar Paliwal issued the order while hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Law Students Association president Vishal Baghel, along with other related petitions concerning the nursing scam.

The PIL highlighted that due to repeated investigations and procedural delays, nursing students have faced years of uncertainty and multiple exam postponements. Examination dates have been changed or cancelled at least three to four times in recent years, significantly impacting students’ academic progress.

However, with the court’s latest directive, authorities have been instructed to hold the examinations without fail, helping to restore the derailed academic structure of nursing courses across the state.

No role of top panel now

In a related development, the High Court also ruled that the high-level committee constituted under retired Justice Rajendra Kumar Srivastava to review deficiencies found during the CBI probe, has now completed its role. Moving forward, no further cases will be referred to this committee.

All nursing colleges, including those previously under scrutiny, must now submit formal applications for recognition of the new academic session directly to the MP Nursing Council. The council will take decisions based on independent investigations and verification.
