7-Month Pregnant Woman Found Dead At In-Laws Place; Family Alleges Assault Till Death |

Chhatarpur (Madhya Pradesh): A 7-month pregnant woman was found dead with several bruises on her body in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhatarpur, as reported by police on Thursday.

According to police, the deceased was identified as 25-year-old Priyanka Sahu. Her body was found at her in-laws’ house in the Kaifet area of Nowgong town.

"Mummy ye log mujhe maar rahe..." (Mummy, these people are beating me) her family told police about their daughter's last phone call on the day of the incident. They have alleged that she was beaten to death by her in-laws and later hanged to make it look like a suicide.

Priyanka was married to Pushpendra Sahu of Nowgong 3 years ago. The couple has a 2-year-old daughter, and Priyanka was seven months pregnant before her demise.

Priyanka informed mother about assault

According to Priyanka’s mother, she called her on Tuesday at 11 am and cried over the phone saying she was being assaulted by her in-law. “Soon after her husband allegedly snatched the phone and the call was disconnected. After this, we could not contact Priyanka after that.”

On the same day, police informed Priyanka’s family that she had allegedly died by suicide. Her family rushed to the hospital in Nowgong, where they found her body. They claimed there were visible injury marks on her body.

Family demands action

At present, police have taken the body for post-mortem and registered a case in the matter.

Police have confirmed that the matter is sensitive, and all possible angles are being investigated. The real cause of death will be confirmed only after the post-mortem report is received.

Priyanka’s family has demanded strict action against the accused.
