Satna (Madhya Pradesh): Congress MLA from Satna Dr Rajendra Kumar Singh sparked a controversy after he compared 'sadhus' to bulls during an event in Madhya Pradesh's Satna. Addressing the crowd, he accused the saints and sages of being "BJP's bull eating into Congress' vote bank!"
During his speech, Singh alleged that the BJP appointed the Hindu saints to preach their agenda for votes. "Ye BJP ne sadhu, sant ko khula chodh diya hai sanatan ka prachar karne ke liye. Ye humari Congress kil kheti charr rahe hain." (The BJP left the saints unleashed to promote Sanatan Dharma. And these saints are now impacting our Congress.)
The Congress remarks have ignited an outrage among Hindu religious groups and the Opposition.
Event was attended by Senior Congress Leaders
The Congress MLA was speaking at a marriage garden near Bharhut Hotel in Satna. Several senior congress party leaders including, Indian National Congress General Secretary Harish Chaudhary, State Congress President Jitu Patwari, prominent workers and MLAs of Rewa-Satna division attended the programme.
Singh's statement, ignited rage amongst Hindu outfits
Congress MLA from Amarpatan assembly seat and former assembly deputy Dr. Rajendra Kumar Singh's controversial comments, created a stir in the political corridors. In his speech, he said,
"The seed sown by Golwalkar and Shyama Prasad Mukherjee has now grown into a tree, attaining the dream of a Hindu Rashtra. The timing of the Ram Temple inauguration and the Mahakumbh has also aligned conveniently. Now, saints, monks, sages, and Mahamandaleshwars have been promoting the BJP, and propagate Sanatan Dharma. And these bulls are grazing in Congress’ field."
This statement has ignited a rage amongst the Sadhu-Sant community. Opposition alleged Singh of insulting Saints and Hindu community. BJP and other Hindu religious groups heavily condemned this, Calling it an example of Congress' Anti Hindu Ideology. Meanwhile several congress leader found this statement unnecessary and avoidable.
Opposition demands an apology
The opposition accused congress of harbouring Anti-Hindu Ideology and demanded a clarification statement along with an apology to the saint community.
Minister Dharmendra Bhav Singh Lodhi said, "I strongly condemn such thoughts of comparing to saints as bulls. Such statements expose the true nature and character of the Congress party..."
The statement has also created a stir on social media where many Hindu organiations are demanding severe action against congress MLA Rajendra Singh.
