Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A cost of Rs 15,000 will be slapped on the state government if it doesn’t file its reply over the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC)-2025 within two weeks, the principal seat of the High Court at Jabalpur said on Tuesday.

In compliance with the High Court order, the cut-off marks for the MPPSC were submitted in a sealed envelope. However, the court found that there were no confidential documents in it and made it public. A copy was ordered to be provided to the petitioners' lawyer.

During the last hearing of the case in March, the division bench, comprising Chief Justice Suresh Kumar Kait and Justice Vivek Jain, imposed an interim stay on the conduct of the main examinations.

The MPPSC was directed to release the category-wise cut-off marks of the preliminary examination within two weeks. The High Court had also asked the MPPSC to clarify how many talented candidates from the reserved category were selected in the unreserved category.

Senior advocates Rameshwar Singh Thakur and Vinayak Prasad Shah, while arguing on behalf of the petitioner Sunil Yadav, a Bhopal resident, said the MPPSC had declared the preliminary examination result on March 5, 2025, for recruitment to 158 posts. However, unlike the previous years, category-wise cut-off marks were not released. Bypassing various decisions of the Supreme Court and the High Court, the Commission is not selecting talented candidates of the reserved category against unreserved posts.

The result of the preliminary examination has been declared by reserving all unreserved posts for the general category. The MPPSC has not released the cut-off marks in the preliminary examination, allegedly to hide this error. The next hearing of the case is on May 6.
