Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): An inhumane incident was reported from Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur, where a 42-year-old raped a 5-year-old girl on Friday.
The incident was reported in Hanumantal police station area of Jabalpur.
It is said that the girl had gone to her friend’s place. However, her friend wasn’t at home. Finding the little girl alone, the friend's grandfather caught her and sexually assaulted her.
Not only this, the accused sent her home with a packet of chips in an attempt to convince her to not disclose the incident to anyone in the family.
According to an official from Hanumantal police station Sangeeta Chaudhary, the accused has been identified as Mohammad Islam. As per the victim girl’s parents, their daughter went to her friend’s home on Wednesday at around 8 pm. She couldn’t find her friend but her grandfather took her inside and locked the door. He then committed the crime.

The matter was uncovered after the victim's mother found her daughter’s clothes were wet. Upon asking, the child informed her friend’s grandfather had done ‘bad things’ to her. Hearing this, the mother rushed to the police station with the victim and lodged a complaint.
At present, an FIR has been registered against the accused under Sections 63 (1) and 64 (2) of BNS and relevant sections of POCSO Act. The accused has been detained.
Further investigation and medical examination has been initiated on the matter. Action would be taken against the accused once the charges against him are proved.
