Bhopal/Rajgarh (Madhya Pradesh): The 11-year-old mute and mentally challenged girl who was abducted from a makeshift house in Narsinghgarh and raped in the night of February 2 died at Kamla Nehru Hospital, Bhopal after a week in the early hours of Saturday. It is alleged that the police took the body of the girl straight to crematorium instead of handing it over to her kin.

The family members and some locals were also taken to the crematorium and the body was cremated in their presence amidst heavy police security. The culprits involved in the crime were still to be identified and arrested by the police.

According to reports, the victim’s family members launched a search for her in the area when they found her missing, but could not find her anywhere. The next morning, the girl was found lying injured in the bushes behind a rest house. The police, however, came to know of the incident on Monday morning. The cops then rushed to Narsinghgarh Civil Mehtab Hospital where a lady doctor, after giving preliminary treatment, referred the girl to Hamidia Hospital and later shifted to Kamla Nahru Hospital. Dr Monica Garg, who examined the girl, said that the minor was mute as well as mentally challenged.

The rape victim died while undergoing treatment at early hours on Saturday. The girl used to live with her aged grandmother after her mother left her. Meanwhile, TI at Narsinghgarh police station Shivraj Singh said over 25 suspects have been rounded up for questioning into the incident. The culprits will soon be nabbed, he added.
