MP May 31 Weather Update: Rain & Storm Alert Issued For 21 Districts Including Bhopal; Warmer Nights Ahead

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert for 21 districts of Madhya Pradesh, including the state capital Bhopal. The intense weather activity is to bring strong winds and rainfall across several districts. 

Weather expected on Saturday 

On May 31, weather department has issued dust storm and rainfall alert for Bhopal, Sehore, Vidisha, Raisen, Morena, Bhind, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Sioni, Balaghat, Mandla, Dindori, Anuppur, Umaria, Shahdol, Meher, Satna, Rewa, Mauganj, Sidhi, and Singrauli.

What do meteorologists say?

According to the Meteorological Department, the rain and thunderstorm activity will continue in the state on Saturday. This weather pattern is expected to persist until June 3. However, there may be an increase of 3 to 4 degrees in temperature. Night temperatures may rise, but there is no heatwave alert for any area.

Additionally, a warning of thunderstorms and heavy rain across various districts of Madhya Pradesh on June 1 and 2 has been issued. Winds may gust between 40 to 50 km/h, and people are advised to remain cautious.

Temperature in next 2 days

On June 1 these districts like Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, Niwari, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Satna, Rewa, Mauganj, Sidhi, Singrauli, Datia, Bhind, Morena, Sheopur, Shivpuri, Guna, Ashoknagar, Rajgarh, Shahdol, Dewas, Agar-Malwa, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Ratlam, Jhabua, Dhar, and Alirajpur are to be affected.

These areas may experience strong winds and rainfall, with storm speeds reaching up to 50 km/h.

Whereas, people need to keep extra caution on June 2. An alert has been issued for Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, Morena, Bhind, Datia, Niwari, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Rewa, Panna, Damoh, Mandla, Balaghat, Tikamgarh, Pandhurna, Chhindwara, Sagar, Vidisha, Raisen, Narmadapuram, Bhopal, Sehore, Dewas, Khandwa, Burhanpur, Kharagone, Barwani, Dhar, Alirajpur, Jhabua, Mandsaur, Sheopur, Shivpuri, Ashoknagar, Guna, Rajgarh, and Singrauli.

Rainfall is expected to be accompanied by thunder and winds up to 50 km/h. Satna and Sidhi also remain under the alert zone with similar wind speeds anticipated.

Temperature records

Despite the rains, heat continued in some parts of the state. Gwalior recorded the highest temperature at 40.8°C, followed by Rewa (40.6°C), Tikamgarh (40.5°C), Satna and Sidhi (40.4°C), and Khajuraho (40.3°C). On the cooler side, Pachmarhi, the state's only hill station, recorded a pleasant 28.2°C.

The major cities were recorded at; Bhopal – 36.6°C, Indore – 34.3°C, Ujjain – 36.5°C and Jabalpur – 38°C.
