MP May 14 Weather Updates: Rain, Storm Alerts Issued For 25 Districts Including Bhopal, Indore; Expect Intense Heat and Sudden Downpours

Rain alert extends through May 17 with moderate levels of rainfall and thunderstorm across the state

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh continues to witness mixed weather with intense heat, high humidity and sudden rainfall. Weathermen say moisture coming from Arabian Sea have altered the weather pattern across the state.

On Wednesday, the weather Department issued an alert for 25 districts, including Bhopal, Morena, Neemuch, Mandsaur, and Balaghat. The alert extends through May 17, with moderate rainfall and thunderstorms expected across the state.

Monsoon on the verge

According to the IMD, the state is expected to welcome southwest monsoon is by June 15. It will likely enter through Balaghat, Seoni, Mandla, Betul, and Burhanpur, covering the entire state within 10 days.

Weather for next 2 days

May 15: There is a rain alert in Morena, Guna, Bhind, Ashoknagar, Shajapur, Dewas, Sehore, Barwani, Khargone, Burhanpur, Khandwa, Harda, Narmadapuram, Betul, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Seoni, Mandla and Balaghat.

May 16: Rain along with thunderstorm is expected in Indore, Barwani, Khargone, Morena, Bhind, Datia, Shajapur, Dewas, Khandwa, Sehore, Harda, Raisen, Narmadapuram, Betul, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Seoni and Balaghat.

Mixed weather pattern

While the state is experiencing contrast weather pattern, the central and western districts such as Bhopal, Indore, and Ujjain, is witnessing overcast conditions accompanied with light rainfall. Whereas, regions of Gwalior and Jabalpur remains dry with extreme heat.

Despite rainfall, several district has been gripped under intense heat. Khajurao remained the hottest of all with 42.4°C followed by Naugaon (42°C), Satna (41.8°C), and Rewa (41.2°C). Other districts such as Umaria, Tikamgarh, and Sidhi also recorded temperatures soaring above 40°C.

Weather in major cities

The major urban centres like Bhopal and Indore experienced drizzle  with gusty winds while recording 38.2°C & 36.3°C respectively. Gwalior recorded 41.4°C followed by Jabalpur 38.8°C and Ujjain at 38.5°C.
