Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The first week of April is set to bring unpredictable weather to Madhya Pradesh, with alerts for thunderstorms, rainfall, and hailstorms in several districts. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of storms with wind speeds reaching 40-50 kmph on April 1 and 2, particularly in eastern parts of the state, including Rewa and Shahdol divisions.
IMD Bhopal stated that the approaching western disturbance and cyclonic circulation could trigger weather fluctuations. On March 30, temperatures across Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, and Jabalpur are expected to remain moderate, hovering around 35-36°C during the day, with cooler nights.
Three-Day Weather Outlook:
🔹 March 31: A mix of sunshine and mild heat, with no extreme temperature rise expected.
🔹 April 1: Hailstorms are likely in Harda, Khandwa, and Burhanpur, while Bhopal, Rajgarh, Shajapur, Indore, Dewas, Barwani, Khargone, Sehore, Narmadapuram, Betul, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Seoni, Mandla, and Balaghat may witness light rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds.
🔹 April 2: Hail is expected in Barwani, Khargone, Khandwa, Burhanpur, Harda, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Seoni, Mandla, and Balaghat. Meanwhile, thunderstorms and strong winds are likely in Satna, Rewa, Mauganj, Sidhi, Singrauli, Maihar, Katni, Umaria, Shahdol, Anuppur, Dindori, Jabalpur, Narsinghpur, Betul, Narmadapuram, Bhopal, Sehore, Rajgarh, Shajapur, Indore, and Dewas.
Temperature Variations Across MP
On Saturday, Narmadapuram recorded the highest temperature at 40°C. However, most cities witnessed a dip in temperatures: Tikamgarh (38.7°C), Khargone (38.2°C), Narsinghpur (38°C), Malajkhand (37.2°C), and Khandwa (37.1°C).
Major cities recorded the following temperatures:
Bhopal: 34.5°C
Indore: 34.3°C
Gwalior: 33.2°C
Ujjain & Jabalpur: 35°C
As summer intensifies, heatwaves are expected to grip parts of Malwa and Nimar regions, including Ratlam, Ujjain, Khargone, Khandwa, and Dhar. According to the IMD, a heatwave is declared when the temperature exceeds 40°C or is 4.6°C above normal.
From March to May, Madhya Pradesh is expected to experience 15-20 days of heatwave conditions, with April and May being particularly intense. The IMD predicts 30-35 days of extreme heat during this period, making it crucial for residents to stay hydrated and take necessary precautions against rising temperatures.
