MP March 27 Weather Update: Half A Dozen Cities Cross 40°C; Heatwave Likely On March 30-31

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): For the first time this summer, the temperature in seven cities of Madhya Pradesh has crossed 40°C.

On Wednesday, Narmadapuram, Ratlam, Barwani, Nowgaon, Shivpuri, Guna, and Damoh recorded high temperatures. Other major cities like Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, and Ujjain also remained hot.

However, the Meteorological Department has predicted slight relief from the heat on March 28 and 29.

Weather Forecast

March 27: A drop of 2-3°C in both day and night temperatures is expected.

March 28: The temperature will continue to drop slightly, with Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, and Gwalior expected to record around 38°C.

The summer season officially starts in March and continues for the next four months. The weather department predicts 15-20 heatwave days between March and May, with April and May expected to be the hottest. Hot winds might blow for 30-35 days during this period.

People are advised to take precautions against the heat and stay hydrated.

According to the weather report, the highest temperature was recorded in Narmadapuram at 40.9°C. Ratlam and Talun (Barwani) both saw 40.2°C, while Nowgaon, Shivpuri, Guna, and Damoh touched 40°C.

Meanwhile, 13 other cities—Gwalior, Ujjain, Khajuraho, Dhar, Tikamgarh, Mandla, Sagar, Satna, Shajapur, Umaria, Seoni, Khargone, and Betul—also experienced high temperatures of 39°C or more.

Gwalior: 39.9°C

Ujjain: 39°C

Bhopal: 38.8°C

Indore: 38.2°C

Jabalpur: 38°C

Heatwave in April & May

The last two days of March might see heatwave conditions in Madhya Pradesh, especially in Malwa-Nimar, including Indore, Ujjain, Ratlam, Khargone, Khandwa, and Dhar.

The Meteorological Department states that a heatwave occurs when the temperature is 40°C or more, or when it is at least 4.6°C above normal.

The heat has been increasing for the past two days, with the sun shining brightly during the day. Many cities recorded temperatures 1°C to 4.5°C higher than normal. In Nowgaon, the temperature rose by 2.8°C, making it 4.5°C above normal.

Even night temperatures are increasing, with some cities recording around 22°C.
