MP July 22 Weather Update: Back-to-Back Showers Ahead; Heavy Rain Expected In Jabalpur, Balaghat & More

The weather department has issued a heavy rain alert for 12 districts, including Jabalpur, for Tuesday.

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): After a break of four days, heavy rain made a comeback in Madhya Pradesh from Monday night. Several places, including Bhopal, received strong showers late at night.

The weather department has issued a heavy rain alert for 12 districts, including Jabalpur, for Tuesday. These areas may receive up to 4.5 inches of rainfall in the next 24 hours.

Rain Alert for July 23

For Tuesday (July 23), heavy rain is again expected in districts like Jabalpur, Katni, Anuppur, Dindori, Mandla, Seoni, Balaghat, Chhindwara, and Pandhurna. Light rain and thunder are expected in the remaining districts.

The warning has been issued for districts like Jabalpur, Mandla, Dindori, Balaghat, Seoni, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Narmadapuram, Betul, Harda, Dewas, and Sohagpur.

Apart from these, other districts may also receive light rain with thunder and lightning.

Cyclonic System Behind the Change

According to the weather department, a cyclonic circulation system is active over the region, which will bring heavy rain over the next four days. The monsoon trough line is also active. From July 24, a low-pressure area is expected to form over the Bay of Bengal, which may further increase rainfall in the state.

Rainfall Status So Far

Some cities have received more rain than expected, while others are facing a shortfall. Gwalior, Jabalpur, and Bhopal have recorded more than average rainfall. For example:

Gwalior has received 22.7 cm so far (14.5 cm more than normal).

Jabalpur received 23.5 cm (8.9 cm more).

Bhopal received 15.8 cm (2.8 cm more).

However, cities like Indore and Ujjain have received less rainfall than expected.

Some districts have seen extremely heavy rainfall, much above the average:

Tikamgarh – 37.9 cm (25.4 cm more than usual)

Niwari – 35.1 cm (25.6 cm more)

Chhatarpur – 35.3 cm (23.9 cm more)

Mandla – 36.5 cm (19.7 cm more)

Sidhi – 29.9 cm (15.5 cm more)
