Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A nursing student called his junior on pretext of celebrating her birthday and allegedly raped her at his flat under Awadhpuri police station limits on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday. A case has been registered and raids were being carried out to trace and arrest the accused, police said.

According to reports, the 21-year-old victim is a student of nursing at a private college located on Raisen Road. The victim told police that her senior student Suresh (name changed) often used to help her in studies and befriended her.

On Tuesday night, Suresh called her to his flat in Awadhpuri area on the pretext of celebrating her birthday. After cutting the cake, he asked his friends to move to another room of his flat. Suresh then locked the room and allegedly raped the victim while issuing life threats to her. The accused then dropped the girl to her room. She approached police with her friends on Wednesday and lodged a complaint.

In-charge at Awadhpuri police station Ratanlal Singh Parihar said the accused is at large and efforts were underway to trace him.
