MP Governor Mangubhai Patel Highlights River Interlinking, Infrastructure & Welfare Initiatives In Budget Session Address

He said in the next five years, 1 lakh km of roads will be constructed in the state.

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): In his address at the commencement of the Budget Session of the state assembly on Monday, Governor Mangubhai Patel highlighted the state government’s achievements and its key decisions. Patel particularly highlighted the river interlink project and providing electricity to farmers at Rs 5 per unit. He added that the river interlink project will change the fate of the state.

The Ken-Betwa river link project will provide drinking water and irrigation to ten districts of Bundelkhand. The Parbati-Kalisindh-Chambal project will benefit 11 districts. The Tapti Mega Recharge project with Maharashtra is also ongoing. He said in the next five years, 1 lakh km of roads will be constructed in the state.

Assuring that no public welfare scheme has been shut, he said that the government is committed to the welfare of the poor, youth, farmers and women (GYAN). For women empowerment, Devi Ahilya Nari Empowerment Mission has been started in the state, he said. A bonus of Rs 175 per quintal is being given on wheat and the government has set a target to develop the state as a dairy capital.

Talking about the steps taken for the welfare of SCs and STs, Patel said that Simhastha-2028 will be organised in a grand manner. In the recently concluded GIS, investment proposals of Rs 30.77 lakh crore have been received, he pointed out.

When the Governor was leaving the assembly after his address, Opposition members requested him to increase the sittings of the Budget Session.
