Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and Rajya Sabha MP Digvijaya Singh targetted the BJP and RSS in Gwalior on Thursday.
During his visit to Gwalior, Singh didn’t hold back as he criticised BJP state president VD Sharma and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat. He accused them of disrespecting India’s freedom fighters and questioned their commitment to the Constitution.
Speaking to the media before heading to Lahar to offer condolences for the passing of Dr. Govind Singh’s mother, Singh raised serious concerns about the Election Commission and EVMs.
“Where did 47 lakh new voters suddenly come from in just six months between the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Maharashtra? Show us the booth-wise voter list – we’ll even pay for the printed copies. But no, they won’t give it. Why? Because they know what they’re hiding,” he said, accusing the Election Commission of functioning as a BJP agent.
He also took a jibe at VD Sharma for calling Congress’s “Mhow Yatra” an “Arab Yatra” and demanding that Rahul Gandhi apologise at Dr. Ambedkar’s birthplace.
Singh hit back, saying, “Has VD Sharma ever even read the Constitution? Which article does he think Congress violated? Let’s be honest – it’s the BJP that doesn’t believe in the Constitution. They’ve tried to change it before and might do it again if given the chance!”
But Singh didn’t stop there. He turned the spotlight on the RSS, reminding everyone that they opposed the Constitution when it was implemented, even burning copies of it.
“Where was the RSS during the freedom struggle? Supporting the British and forming alliances with the Muslim League! And now they want to lecture us on patriotism?” Singh said.
Taking a direct shot at Mohan Bhagwat, Singh accused him of insulting the memory of freedom fighters.
“How can you insult the very people who gave their lives for this country’s independence? While they were fighting for freedom, the RSS was busy siding with the British. Bhagwat must apologize for this,” he demanded.
