Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): Two youths stabbed an e-rickshaw driver to death in front of his wife in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur on Monday evening. The accused killed the driver after he refused to give them money.

According to SI Kishore Bagri, the deceased has been identified as Mohammad Maqbool. Maqbool was returning home with his wife and kids when his e-rickshaw had a minor collision with a bike in Amkhera of the Gohalpur police station area.

The youths got down from the bike and started hurling abuses at him. They started demanding money, citing the 'damage' caused by the minor collision. The e-rickshaw driver refused to pay, stating that the damage was negligent and no repair is needed. The accused started arguing with him and thrashed him, even as his wife got down from the e-rickshaw and requested them to leave him. One of the youths, in a fit of rage, took out a knife from his pocket and stabbed the autorickshaw driver to death in front of his wife and children.

The accused duo fled from the spot after committing the crime.

Angry, locals staged protests at the police station and demanded strict action against the accused. Police have started the search to nab the accused duo.
