MP: Clerk Caught Accepting ₹25000 Bribe From Teacher

The accused had demanded the amount for preparing teacher’s attendance sheet.

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Economic Offences Wing, Gwalior sleuths have caught a clerk posted at district Datia election cell accepting a bribe of Rs 25000 to prepare attendance sheet of a teacher, said officials on Friday.

Rakesh Shivhare, a government teacher posted in Gigna of Datia district, who was suspended by district collector in December had approached the EOW complaining against the clerk who demanded a bribe for preparing his attendance sheet.

The teacher had stated that his suspension order was revoked and he was given an appointment and he was asked to submit an attendance sheet. The clerk, posted at the office of election cell block Bhander, Alok Khare was given the task of preparing the attendance sheet of the teacher.

The clerk, however,  demanded a bribe of Rs 30,000 from the teacher for preparing the attendance sheet. Later, the clerk agreed on doing the work in return for Rs 25000.

The teacher reported to the EOW and after the verification of the complaint, a team led by DSP Damodar Gupta was formed to nab the clerk accepting a bribe amount. On Friday at the office, as soon as the teacher handed over the cash to the clerk, the trap team caught him red- handed accepting the bribe.
