In yet another shocking incident in Madhya Pradesh, a man who had come to Bhopal from Rajasthan to get divorce from her estranged wife, tried to set her on fire , in broad day light in the midst of one of the most busy markets situated at Marwadi road, here on Wednesday.
In the incident, the victim received serious burns on her face said the Kotwali police here on Wednesday. A video surfaced on social media of the incident.
Deputy commissioner of police Riyaz Iqbal told Free Press that the victim is the resident of Rajasthan and presently she is living with her sister and brother-in-law. She was get married with Raees in Rajasthan in the year 2019. Raees lives with his sister and her children.
The police stated that when the victim asked for their own children, the accused refused to have children. On this they have dispute and the victim left her husband house and started living with her parents. But the accused started harassing her and fed up with the harassment, she came to Bhopal at her sister’s house. The victim started work as a care taker of old aged couple.
The accused find out her address and again started harassing her. Meantime he asked to take divorce and he gave time on Eid to meet and sign the papers.
On Tuesday, Raees told her to take a print of the divorce paper which were sent on her email. When the victim was approaching the cyber cafe situated on Marwadi road gali number -4 to get the papers, she identified the accused. The victim gave the information to her sister about Raees' presence.
Raees approached the victim and stopped her and while talking to her, he took out a small bottle filled with petrol. The accused doused her and set her on fire.
The people nearby tried to douse the fire with rainwater and rushed her to the nearby hospital.
The police have registered the case under section of attempt to murder and other sections of domestic violence and dowry demand against the accused Raees and have launched the manhunt to arrest him.
