Morena: Houses of tehsildar attackers bulldozed post ballot box looting bid

On Sunday, two bulldozers began demolishing the houses of these attackers. The demolition of houses of nine accused, who have been identified by the police, was carried out in the presence of heavy police force till the filing of report.

Morena (Madhya Pradesh): A day after an attempt to snatch the ballot box by attacking officials of district administration from a polling booth at Goonj Panchayat in Ambah block, police have registered an FIR against 59 people involved in the incident.

On Sunday, two bulldozers began demolishing the houses of these attackers. The demolition of houses of nine accused, who have been identified by the police, was carried out in the presence of heavy police force till the filing of report. The FIR includes names of Panchayat Secretary Kapil Sharma, Dilip Sharma, Harpal, Bhurai, Bhotu, Nehna Parmar, Pankaj, Kamlesh and Lokendra.

On the polling day of first phase of three-tier election, Tehsildar Rajkumar Nagoria and Excise Officer Nidhi Jain had reached to rescue the polling party after the tense situation at the polling station at Gram Panchayat Goonj.

As soon as the polling party came out, around 100 people armed with weapons, attacked both the officers and tried to rob the ballot box. Their vehicles were also damaged. In this case, a case of obstruction in government work and damage to government property and attempt to murder was registered against 9 known and 50 unknown people including Kapil Sharma, secretary of Goonj Panchayat. Out of these 9 known accused, 7 accused are from Bandha village.

The administration and police took this incident as a challenge. Two JCB machines were sent to demolish the houses of the accused with heavy police force. The proceedings are likely to continue till late night. Additional Superintendent of Police Dr Raisingh Narwaria and Tehsildar Naresh Sharma were present on the spot along with administrative staff and police force.

Janpad panchayat polls: Ambah-Porsa block record 69% voter turnout

About 69 per cent voting was recorded during the first phase of Panchayat elections in Ambah-Porsa block in Morena district on Saturday.

On polling day, no untoward incident was reported till late evening. The votes cast in the first phase, which held the fate of sarpanch and panch candidates, were sealed in the ballot boxes on Saturday. Voting commenced from 7 am for two blocks of the district. Voting percentage improved in the afternoon after a lean phase in the morning.

Almost the same voting took place in both the blocks-Ambah-Porsa, i.e 69.06 % and 69.07% respectively. According to reports, 122124 out of 172208 voters of Ambah Janpad Panchayat exercised their right. Similarly, out of 158686 voters of Porsa Janpad Panchayat area, about 109606 voted.
