Shivraj tasked with mobilising 10L SC, STs
BHOPAL : After RSS taking a stand on caste-based reservation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi would present his viewpoint in a programme on April 14 in Mhow of the state. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, who got a rally of farmers in Sherpur of Sehore district organized, is now been assigned with the task of organizing a grand rally of people belonging to SC and ST categories.
Modi may sideline RSS’s suggestion by giving a big statement in favour of caste-based reservation on Baba Saheb Ambedkar Jayanti. Preparations are on to bring around 10 lakh Dalits and tribals in this rally. The Central leaders of BJP have assigned Chauhan the responsibility of bringing Modi out of image of pro-corporate and closer to Dalit and deprived sections of the society. Modi may make significant announcements in this rally about Dalits in the country.
BJP is trying to do well in the Assembly elections of West Bengal and Assam. RSS’s stand may harm BJP’s prospects in elections. Modi may begin his campaign of damage control from Madhya Pradesh. Chauhan has an image of pro-poor leader in the BJP. Modi too intends to get free from his image of pro-industrialist.
The farmers’ rally on February 18 and visits of Modi in the state on April 14 and May 14 testimonise that Modi has selected Madhya Pradesh as a workplace to change his image. Chauhan has also asked his party leaders to make this rally a grand success by bringing Dalits and tribals in large numbers.
