Minister fixes time limit for disposal of vehicle permit applications

BHOPAL : It should be strictly ensured that women sit in the seats reserved for them in public transport vehicles. Transport Minister Bhupendra Singh gave this directive to officers during a departmental review meeting here on Friday.

The Transport Minister directed officers to accelerate pace of recovery to achieve its annul target. He directed to dispose of applications for temporary vehicle permit by December 30, 2014 and permanent ones by January 30, 2015. The Transport Minister said that fitness certificates should not be issued to vehicles not conforming to prescribed norms. The Minister directed all Regional Transport Officers to undertake tours in their respective areas for minimum 4 days a week.

He directed officers that police verification must be got done invariably before issuance of commercial vehicles’ driving licences. Besides, travel agencies and taxi operators should also be verified through police.

Principal Secretary Transport Pramod Agrawal, Transport Commissioner Shailendra Shrivastava and transport officers were present on the occasion.
