Many babus in race for becoming coop commissioner

BHOPAL : A race has begun among IAS officers for appointment as cooperatives commissioner, following the retirement of Manish Shrivastava from the post. Principal secretary Ashok Warnwaal intends to give the position to Sukhvir Singh, who is waiting for his posting in the Mantralaya after coming back from overseas training.

MB Ojha, who has been posted as additional secretary, school education after his transfer from Vidisha, where was collector, is also trying to become cooperatives commissioner. Markfed, managing director, BM Sharma is also eying this post. A senior officer has also proposed to transfer Ojha to Sharma’s place. Kavindra Kiyawat, who has been transferred from Ujjain, is also waiting for his posting. He is also keen on becoming cooperatives commissioner.

The reason behind officers’ interest in this post is that cooperative commissioner has charge of administrator of Apex Bank. Along with this post, some other posts are also given under additional charge.

However, transfer orders could not be issued as chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is unwell. The posts of commissioner, food and civil supplies, principal secretary, information and technology, principal secretary, backward classes are being held by officers as additional charge. Principal secretary, tribal, Alka Upadhyaya is also going on central deputation and her successor is yet to be found. Sources said postings would be made once chief minister gets well.
