BHOPAL : AICC General Secretary and state in-charge Mohan Prakash, lambasting the NDA and the state government, the government of Dr Manmohan Singh gave MNREGS, Right to Education, Right to Food and Food Safety and Right to Information but the government at the Centre and the state are being run by two ‘Veers’ namely ‘Bhashanveer’ and ‘Ghoshanaveer’. Prakash alleged that ‘Bhashanveer’ is busy in making Smart Cities, Digital India, Start-up and Make in India while ‘Ghoshnaveer’ has not fulfilled even 10 per cent of 27,000 announcements made by him.
Prakash was addressing a state-level workshop organised here under the aegis of the State Congress Committee on Tuesday to commemorate 10 years of launching of Mahatma Gandhi National Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGS). He said MNREGS is not only a scheme for poor, farmers and workers but it is also their fundamental right which creates employment for them. Prakash alleged that Modi-led Central government and Shivraj government in the state have no problem in opening their coffers to capitalists but they are not comfortable in giving a single penny to the poor, farmers and workers.
State Congress President Arun Yadav alleged that wages of workers to the tune of Rs 780 crore linked to MNREGS are still outstanding. He claimed that the state government, which is running in debt, made use of money, which was meant for MNREGS in giving salaries to its employees.
Former MP Sandeep Dixit said MGNREGS completing its 10 years is like a national festival.
He said Maharashtra government had launched this scheme in 1970 on small scale but the top leadership of the Congress had then vowed to give the scheme a big shape and also give it a legal form.
