Satna (Madhya Pradesh): Nine people were killed and 13 injured in a road accident on the Sidhi-Bahari road in Sidhi district at 2:30am on Monday when a sports utility vehicle collided head-on with a truck. In the vehicle, there were 22 people who were going to Sharda Temple to perform a tonsure ceremony of a member of their family. 

When the accident occurred, the SUV was going towards Maihar, and the truck was coming from Sidhi. Nine of the injured, whose conditions were deteriorating, were sent to the Rewa hospital. The rest are being treated at the Sidhi district hospital. The police took the truck driver into custody and began an inquiry into the case.

CM Mohan Yadav announces ex gratia

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav mourned the deaths and said that an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh would be given to the next of kin of those who were killed in the accident. Similarly, the seriously injured will get Rs 1 lakh, and those with minor injuries will get Rs 50,000 each, Yadav said.
